Turn-based artillery in your browser
Charred Planet is a free artillery game for 2 to 8 tanks. It runs in your web browser: no account, no download, no installation.
Play against computer opponents (four skill levels), against friends on the same device by taking turns, or any mix of the two. There is no online multiplayer; everyone plays on one screen.
How to play
Objective
Each round, tanks take turns firing at each other across destructible terrain. The last tank standing wins the round. Damage, kills and round wins earn points and cash; the highest score after the final round takes the campaign.
Setup
- Press Play now to start straight away with the current setup (you against three AI tanks the first time).
- Or adjust the setup below it first: add or remove commanders, set each to Human or an AI level (Rookie, Gunner, Sharpshooter, Ace), and pick rounds, starting cash, wind, edges and battlefield. Then press Start game.
- For local multiplayer, set more than one commander to Human. On a human's turn, hand them the keyboard, mouse or phone.
Your setup is remembered in this browser for next time.
Aiming and wind
Set the barrel angle and the shot power, then fire. Shells arc under gravity and drift with the wind: the wind bar at the top shows its direction and strength. Wind can shift between turns, so read it every time. Your maximum power drops as your tank loses health. After a shot, a faint trail of your last shot (if enabled) helps you correct the next one.
Between rounds, spend your cash in the armory on weapons, shields, parachutes, fuel and repair kits.

Supported browsers and devices
- Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. JavaScript must be enabled.
- Play with keyboard and mouse, or entirely by touch. Gamepads are not supported.
- Phones work in both orientations. Landscape gives a bigger battlefield; in portrait on a small phone the battlefield is small.
- The full-screen button appears only where the browser supports it (not in Safari on iPhone). On phones and tablets you can add the game to your Home Screen to play without the browser toolbar.
- On iPhone and iPad, game sound plays even with the silent switch on; use the in-game mute button.
- Leaving the page during a match pauses the game.

Privacy
Charred Planet has no accounts, no cookies of its own, no ads and no game server. Your matches run entirely in your browser and are not sent to us.
Saved in your browser
The game stores a few preferences in your browser's local storage: your setup (commander names, colors and battle options), whether sound is muted, and whether you dismissed or accepted the Home Screen offer. They stay on your device; clear this site's data in your browser settings to remove them.
Services the site uses
- Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, it receives standard request data (such as your IP address, browser user agent and the pages and files requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may also ask your browser to report network errors when the site fails to load.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits using a script Cloudflare adds to the page. It records page views, referring site, browser, device type, country and page-load performance, without cookies and without building a profile of you.
- Google Fonts serves the game's two fonts, so your browser requests them from Google, which receives your IP address and browser user agent.
See Cloudflare's privacy policy and Google Fonts' privacy FAQ for how they handle that data. Questions: help@charredplanet.com.
